Grade 3 and up: The program is similar for these ages with appropriate varying degrees of detail and depth. Through a slide presentation we introduce the students to the concept of wildlife rehabilitation showing our hospital procedures and what people can do when finding injured wildlife. We give an overview of the species we treat and the injuries we see. Next, a discussion on how humans impact wildlife and actually create the hazards, causing the injuries. We cross over into social issues and talk about how rumors and "bullying" harms both people and the environment. We attempt to leave students with the feeling that they have the power to make a difference. Duration: 30 minutes for the Preschool to Grade 1. 60-90 minutes for Grade 2 and up. Class size: The preferred maximum 30. We have spoken to larger groups in libraries, music rooms and gymnasiums. We Bring: interpreter, digital projector and laptop, some props, live animal You Supply: room which can be darkened to view pictures, small table or a/v cart, projection screen, power and most importantly, enthusiasm! |
Preschool to Grade 2: We introduce the children to the concept of wildlife rehab using storytelling, pictures and one of our education animals. The children learn how every one of them can make a difference to help wildlife.
