"Building respect for people, animals, and the environment through wildlife rehabilitation, education, and research" Each year hundreds of wild animals are injured or orphaned -- most of these are a result of human activities. Some of these animals can be rescued, treated and released back into their natural habitat. The Medicine River Wildlife Centre is a wildlife hospital and environmental education centre dedicated to assisting injured and orphaned wild animals to return back to their natural environment. Founded in 1984, the Medicine River Wildlife Centre is a nonprofit organization operating under federal and provincial permits to care for injured and orphaned wildlife. MRWC now treats close to 1000 wildlife patients annually. Through an extensive network of volunteer relayers, patients arrive from all areas of Alberta. The facility is located about a ½ hour's drive west of Innisfail in central Alberta. Our visitor facility is open May to September, from 10:00am to 5:00pm daily. Patients are accepted 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This website is here to help you learn more about the Wildlife Centre, wildlife rehabilitation, our public education programs, and provide information how you can help injured or displaced wildlife.
