She was showing signs of a concussion, wobbly and disoriented, but otherwise was in good health. Bringing her into our hospital would have caused unnecessary stress, likely doing more bad than good. Deer are extremely high-stress animals, and in most cases, actually have a much better chance if left in nature to recover.
With the help of City workers and volunteers, she was covered in blankets and quietly moved to a secluded spot near the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. She was monitored by staff and eventually regained enough strength to move on.
